Brittni Paiva's 'Brittni X3'
"...her debut release shows a musical maturity that defies
her youth..."

A few months ago a colleague of mine asked me to listen to a demo CD
by a young lady who was in one of his classes. That young lady turned
out to be 15 year-old Brittni Paiva. It was impressive, albeit
a bit rough around the edges; something not unexpected for someone so
young. I wrote a short note pointing out some of the shortcomings, and
encourage her to hone her skills before releasing her music.
Apparently she took that advice to heart, and her debut release shows
a musical maturity that defies her youth. All instruments on the CD
are performed by Brittni - slack key guitar, 'ukulele and electric
bass. And while she does show some impressive chops, she's always in
control; something that cannot be said for a lot of young musicians.
The selection includes some originals, Hawaiian standards, jazz,
Japanese and even Hava Nagila..
Bottom Line: A most impressive debut from someone who will
really shine with experience and developing her own instrumental
voice.
